You can pick one up at Gazebo Gardens (3204 N. Van Ness Blvd, Fresno) or stop by our booth at the River Park Farmers Market across from Teezers (Tuesday 5pm-9pm and Saturday 11am-3pm).

We will also have a distribution office open at River Park on Thursdays and Sundays from 2pm-5pm. The office is right under the bridge that goes from the parking structure to Macy’s.

What is Measure Z

Measure Z is a one-tenth of one percent sales tax paid in Fresno County, or one penny out of every $100 spent on retail transactions, that aids the Fresno Chaffee Zoo's capital renovations and operations. Measure Z was overwhelmingly approved by Fresno County voters in 2004 and again in 2014, allowing the Zoo to continue to provide excellent animal care, upgrade existing exhibits, create new exhibits, and provide educational and conservation opportunities for families throughout Fresno County and all who visit Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

Measure Z has so far raised $135 million for capital improvement projects, including $5 million to upgrade the electric infrastructure that supports the Zoo's magnificent ecosystems. Smaller upgrades and enhancements, as well as substantial new displays, are included in these capital projects.

Notable capital Improvements

African Adventure

An experience unparalleled in zoos today, the African Adventure provides a fun and immersive cultural experience, interactive play areas and engaging live learning events for all ages. Measure Z helped create this spectacular wildlife experience to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and provides the funding needed to continue to maintain this unique exhibit.

Animal Ambassador Complex

Dozens of animal favorites such as snakes, turtles and owls call our Animal Ambassador Complex home thanks to the $3.3 million provided by Measure Z. The facility sits on one acre and has the ability to house dozens of animals in various individual enclosures.

Kingdoms Of Asia

Slated to open to the public February of 2023, Kingdoms of Asia will inspire and educate our community on the geography, culture, animals and conservation efforts throughout Southeast Asia.

Sea Lion Cove

Our Sea Lion Cove serves as a great example of the Zoo’s sustainability goals. The beautiful exhibit features solar panels, water conserving irrigation systems and an efficient life support.

Wilderness Falls

Our interactive Wilderness Falls opened in May 2018 is fully funded by Measure Z. This fun area provides a place for kids to cool off and make a splash in the waterfall, explore the wilderness and fire lookout tower, and more!
